Democrats Punk the Left Again: Lieberman Stays Put
F*ck The Dimocrats!!, F*ck the Republicans!!!, Political Smackdown 2008!!! November 18th, 2008
Well, now…so it seems that voting for your party standard bearer’s opponent, directly criticizing your party’s policies, abandoning your party in you reelection bid, and basically acting like a Judas turncoat really does have consequences.
Provided, of course, that you are a liberal or a “progressive”.
If you happen to be a conservative Democrat, on the other hand….well, bygones can be bygones.
And if you happen to be a former conservative Democrat who got voted out of his party’s nomination for US Senate, well, all’s the better for healing and “bipartisanship”.
So, Holy Joe Lieberman gets to keep his Homeland Security chairmanship and his spot in the Democratic Caucus, but loses his co-chairmanship in a lesser committee. All to buffer up Obama’s push for “bipartianship”.
Anyone wants to bet that if Lieberman had backed Cynthia McKinney or Ralph Nader in the elections and had criticized Obama and/or the Dems from the Left, would he have been treated so nicely?? Yeah, right…he wouldn’t have ever tasted the Homeland Security committee to even begin with, let alone become its ranking member.
But, such is the case with Democratic leadership: a classier, nicer breed of right-wing.
And…once again, the Left/Liberal side of the political table gets punked. Big surprise.
And no, one more time….Hillary would not have changed things, either.
Wonder if Bernie Sanders will be able to keep his Dem Caucus seat???
Meanwhile, BHO continues to do his usual tacks to the Right: Hillary about to become Secretary of State as soon as they can clear the vetting of Bubba’s CGI assets; Chuck Hagel about to become Sec of Defense (he jumped on Rush and Newt and the GOP flying monkeys today); and the revival of Clinton 2.0 continues unabatted. Oh, and no impeachment of Dubya or his minions for his war crimes; no closing of Guantamano Bay or Gitmo for housing and torturing “terrorists”, and probably no single payer health care proposal, either.
In short, what we are about to be getting is more of a mix between Bubba Clinton’s “triangulation” (but without the Repubs in charge of the Congress) and Jimmy Carter’s “campaign left, but govern right” working strategy. We all know where that ended up, now do we???
Sarah Palin and Mitt Romney might be measuring the drapes for the White House for 2012 after all if this keeps up…
