If you ever wanted a real and stark perspective of how insufficient our present health care system is at fundamental health care; well, go over to Feministe and read up La Lubu’s entry on the struggles she faced in caring for her child.

Then, if you are like me, you will wonder whether S-CHIP even goes far enough…and why our Dimocratic leadership (yes, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid, I’m smacking you down again!!!) is more concerned with defending and enabling the Repubs who want to nuke even the minor reforms.  And putting down those who actually care enough to call bullshit for what it is.

Universal single payer backed by truly progressive taxation and livable wages….nothing else will do.  Anything else is retreat and surrender.

If the Dimocrats can’t even deliver a pittance reform like S-CHIP, why do you think that they will even care about real reform??

But, let’s all bash Pete Stark for saying the truth and making a standard (and true) statement…because we just can’t give the Repubs any more soundbytes to whack our “moderates” over their heads.
