Here is one case where old-school sex-positivism could do some actual good…and where we can root out some hypocrisy of our own.

Many of you have heard of the Hedonism festivals that are held in Jamaica each year….sorta of like the sexual free-for-all bacchanals where the tourists can come in and basically do the country and each other in so many polymorphorusly perverse fashions. In short, you can call them  XXX versions of Club Med.

That would be all fine and well and good…..except that outside of the festivities, there is a really, really dark, disgusting, and viciously sexually repressive side of the Land of ‘Mon….its profusive hatred and loathing of homosexuals, especially gay men.  In fact, the attitudes against gays are closer to the attitudes of the Ku Klux Klan towards Black people, in both intensity and extremism.

If you were to leave the safety of Hedo and wander into a town or city where natives live, you’d discover something repulsive and nearly unimaginable in this day and age. Gay men are being openly persecuted and no one seems to give a shit. They are harrassed [sic], assaulted, beaten, and publicly reviled. Meanwhile, in the one place you might expect some mercy to flow, the so-called “Christian” churches, ministers are lashing out against — nope, not the psychopaths beating up the gays. They’re preaching anti-gay invective so hateful, it makes Fred Phelps sound like Mr. Rogers.

All this has infuriated Doc Glory (who definitely counts as a hedonist, even if she carries a mean whip as a prodomme and practicing sex therapist) to the point that she’s suggesting some pretty strong acts of resistance…like, say, boycotting the next festivities.

So tell me, my fellow sexually enlightened friends: why the fuck should we spend a penny on propping up Jamaica’s tourist economy? They are marginalizing, demonizing, victimizing, and in some cases, murdering gay men. It’s a fucking gay apartheid, mon.

Personally, I would not want to suck dick in a country where someone else gets the shit kicked out of them for doing the same. Personally, I can’t celebrate “hedonism” in a country whose sexual politics are draconian. Personally, I do not want to support a culture of sexual tyranny. Personally, I’d like to see Jamaica’s tourist economy get the ass-fucking it so richly deserves.

Boycott Jamaica. Don’t support their social war on gays. Enjoy your hedonism at home or find another club in another country where love is more than a four-letter word in a travel brochure.

Sounds like a damn good idea, too. Actually, any decent human being who actually gives a shit about liberty and decency should probably join this boycott….and not just during Hedo, either. We don’t accept gay-bashing when it comes from the poison pen of the Westboro Baptist Church crazies; so why should it be acceptable for Jamaicans??  Or Iranians….or Saudis..or Ukranians…or anyone else???

And no, Lenin of Lenin’s Tomb and Yoshie Furushrari, and/or any right-wing “Islamophile” or Christian homophobe out there…this is not about insulting “native Christian ” or “native Islamic” culture or intervening in their countries’ affairs.  This is about simple plain Goddess-damn decency and JUSTICE.  What ever you may think about gay people (or hedonists), there is a line in the sand of civilized behavior drawn at beating the shit out of them for doing no harm to others.  When you cross that line, regardless of your religion or “culture”, you deserve to get whacked by people like me who believe in acting more civilized.  End. Of. Freaking. Statement.
