Here's a brief bio of me to help you thereof....
I was born and raised in South Central Louisiana, deep in the heart of what we call "Cajun Country" or "Acadiana" , as the second of the youngest of 10 children. After graduating from high school in 1982, I attended the University of Southwestern Louisiana (now the University of Louisiana at Lafayette) and Southern University on a music education program. (Unfortunately, I have yet to complete my studies and obtain my degree....but I will work on that as soon as I get some extra cash...LOL)
My main training in sex positivism and political activism comes from active reading as a "library rat" (I used to spend some two to three hours a day minimum in the stacks at USL/ULL and Southern browsing books of all varieties...and I am a junkie on the Internet as well.) and through personal observation of the inanities and pleasantries of our political and social system. Although I was raised as a Democrat (as most African Americans are, I left the party in the mid 1980s out of frustration for them pandering too much to the Right for my emerging radical tastes. Today I refer to myself as a "Progressive Independent", mostly as a means of separating myself from the usual brand of "centrist" Independent and to keep my future options open for that genuine Leftist independent political party that's in formation. (FTR, I voted for Ralph Nader for President in 2000, and unless the Democrats get it together and nominate a genuine progressive instead of a Bush-Lite DLC clone, I'll go Independent once again. So sue me, Nathan Newman and all you Democratic hacks!!! lol
My main beacons of light and inspirations are: Nelson Mandela, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X for Black activism; Noam Chomsky Thomas Scott Tucker and Molly Ivins for political analysis, Doug Henwood for progressive economic analysis, Olivia Newton-John for my musical inspiration, the good Drs. Carol Queen, Susan Block, Betty Dodson and Gloria Brame for sexy intellectualism, Emma Goldman and Victoria Woodhull for historical perspective; and my parents and family and friends for putting up with all my crap and nonsense for the past 39 years.
And finally....there are my other two inspirators, my two present living Goddesses on this earth, without whom none of my words would make any sense or reason, and without whom my personal dreams would be much more limited....and a whole lot drier, too, if you catch me..lol
